Help ! I'm getting a headache !
I've got a '95 Ram 1500.
I stopped to get something to drink at 7-11.
When I came back out 5 minutes later and got in to start the truck, it cranked and cranked, but no start. At the same time, someone walking by pointed out something leaking from underneath. When I checked, I saw coolant leaking out. It appeared to be coming out from the top of the water pump.
That was last night and I ended up having it towed home.
This morning, I did the key dance and the only code that came up was #22- " engine coolant temp sensor signal outside the acceptable range"
It's obvious the water pump went bad,
But would this make the truck not start? I don't have a clue what to do( except change the water pump of course !)
Also, does the code generator reset itself? Or how do you reset it ?
Thankful for any assistance I can get as soon as possible. I'm late for work !!!

Change the water pump and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes to reset the PCM. Also, check and replace the bypass hose on top of the water pump. Once filled with coolant after the water pump change, the truck may start since it could have been flooded.

Check the two-wire temp sensor as well, I believe it mounts right next to the thermostat housing on yours.... If it blew apart, that would make for a rather nice leak.... and if the sensor isn't there, PCM thinks the engine is -40*.... and positively DUMPS fuel trying for a burnable mixture.... Floods it out right quick.

Good work pulling the codes OP! You found a clue which may help.
If you see your timing cover leaking, just do it when you do the wp. Surprisingly easy job, but you'll need to pull the balancer

When you change the water pump, you want to unhook the negative cable as a matter of course. This will reset the codes when you hook everything back up. If you have a lot of miles on the engine and something else to drive for a bit, I'd replace the timing chain while I was in there. You have 85-90% of the work done already.
