I recently bought a wireless carplay dashmounted radio that is powered by the cigarette lighter. My bottom "cigarette lighter" does not work at all. Only the top outlet with the AC power sliding door works. The problem is it is always hot so my carplay display is always being powered making my phone want to connect to it while I'm in my house or around my truck. I only need it on when I crank the truck to drive obviously. Is there a way to change this? This is on a 97 RAM 2500 V8 Gas

You're only fix is the hot wire to the cig lighter moved to an "ignition on" wire.

Either way I'd run it off a relay. Your switching means will be an ignition-hot wire, but power comes straight from the battery. And of course fuse the battery feed near the battery.

If you KNOW you only want to power low-draw accys like a USB charger, you can skip the relay and tap into an existing circuit.

How come you just didn't get a new stereo with bluetooth?
Did you check the fuse?

Your bottom outlet is ignition on only. I run my dash cam off mine. Check the fuse on yours. It may just be blown.
