Default Trans line leak

Good afternoon all. While changing the lights bulb out I found a small leak / seapage on the trans line coming or going to the external cooler. The leak is coming from the quick disconnect. I guess the truck came with a external cooler.

I figured since I have to change the line out I might as well delete the check valve. My question is do I need to put a small flare in the line so the hose clamp has some where to grab or can I just double up the hose clamp? Also is the check valve on the inlet or the outlet of the trans line?

I read the write up of the check valve delete, but I have seen standard trans hose used in place of metal lines. I have included photos. It is the hos from the external cooler going back to the trans. In the 1st pick the weep is coming from the dimple at the quick disconnect on the lower hose.

I cut my existing hose to get rid of the check valve and found a flared fitting that I screwed a barbed male fitting into and grafted the assembly in with a hose clamp. Fittings are A-176 and A-204 available at my local Lowe's home improvement store. See photo attached..

Does anybody know if the other lines are barbed? Mine are leaking at the crimps, I want to replace the hose but need to know if there's a barb under the hose or it's smooth and they put the barb on the crimp. I had two lines from a motor/trans i bought but threw them away not knowing you can't get them anymore.

The external cooler was an option, Most likely you have the trailer package. Remove the quick disconnect and replace the o ring.

The quick-connect lines have a ridge that the q-c grabs to hold it in place.... Getting a hose over that can be fun.....

I do have a question. Is the trans line a 3/8 line or a 5/16 line?

I believe it's 5/16". Please make sure to use transmission hose and not fuel hose if you're using flexible rubber line..

Thank you. The plan is to find a new quick disconnect line then cut it and use a double sided barbed adapter to tie into the existing hose that is still good.
