Rim pattern question
Hi all. I have a 5.2L 1500 ram. I want a new set of rims and love the 4th gen rims. Just wondering if these will fit up just fine or if they won't fit properly. Can't get a straight answer online
Ram used 5x5.5 from the late 80's until switching to the 6 bolt pattern. I would assume the bore will also fit. I see lots of 3rd gens with 4th gen wheels and 2nd gens with 3rd gen wheels. Not often have i seen a 2nd gen with 4th gen but they probably will look nice. It lug centric rim so if it fits up to the face tighten it down and run it. You may be required to purchase lug nuts. I'm guessing ram went to a larger metric stud at some point in the early teens. You may need a lug nut that fits the 1/2" stud with a bigger bulge size.
The 5 on 5 1/2 bolt pattern is the same until. However, around 2002-2004, the lug studs got bigger. The second gen studs are 1/2 in. The later ones are 9/16. Can you make the wheels fit with washers, I don't know. An extra broad shouldered 1/2 in nut MIGHT work. I've never seen it done or tried it myself so I can't tell you if it's safe or not.
