Default 1999 Ram 2500 v10 Issues

Howdy everybody!

I got an issue with my pig. It starts up and runs great for a few minutes and then falls on its face. I've replaced plugs and checked all wires they look great. After replacing the plugs it ran like a champ for 5 minutes till the problem came back. It stutters on acceleration the rpms drop at idle, its get up and go got up and left. While driving when it acts like this itll clear up sometimes on its own and itll drive great only for a few minutes till it starts doing it again. I'm going to be pulling my o2 sensors later to see if they are the culprit. When its problem is occurring it smells of gasoline as well. It pops like its gonna backfire into the intake sometimes too. I've had the truck for years and it just started doing this. I know it has great fuel pressure its at 44 and stays within a few psi when running etc etc. It did sit for about 5 months before I got back in it and tried to get it on the road. It was low on fuel when I first got back in so I went to the Petrol station got some fresh fuel in it. It has a whole new cooling system in it that I replaced about a year ago. No leaks or anything from this ol pig. Any tips or ideas on what to look for or where a good place to start is? Ive heard about the cats going bad on these things so I'm gonna check them out as well.

Thank you all in advanced for whoever gives their 2 cents =)

Couple things I would check... First, have a look at the coolant temp sensor. Make sure the connector is in good shape, as is the sensor itself. They can degrade, and fall apart, and the PCM relies HEAVILY on that temp sensor to determine how much fuel to push. O2 sensors as well. You don't have to physically remove them from the exhaust, (yet...) just unplug 'em, go for a drive. See if it runs better. If not, THEN pull 'em out, and try again. (they are gonna be a bear to remove though, so, keep that in mind.....)

Welcome to DF!

I agree I was wondering about 02 sensors.

And check for pending codes and keep checking. Might provide a clue.
