Default 2001 dodge ram

I have a 01 ram 1500 5.9 v8 atuo trans and the np231dhd tcase I noticed the output shaft gasket was leaking so I took of the tcase and the output shaft housing replaced it put fluid in it and I took it for a test drive it wouldn’t shift into o/d and going down the road it loses all gears but it shifts into all gears won’t move I think it the transfer case but it’s the second one I’ve put in, in 6 months just can’t keep spending 300$ on tcases why is it doing that and how can I fix it
I’ve been told it’s the drive chain being lose from the torque of the 5.9 and it just not grabbing the sprocket

Drive chain only comes into play when you put it in 4x4. It drives the front wheels, and has nothing to do with the rears. More likely, you have a trans issue..... Think I would start by dropping the pan, changing the filter, and the governor pressure sensor, and solenoid.... See what happens.

It happened before and I replaced the tcase and it was fine I just don’t know why it would keep blowing tcases I’m going to try a np241 from a 5.9 2500 and see if that helps but for right now I’m going to put the np231 in it

More or less looks correct, when diagnosing a headache of a problem, amazon parts is not the first recommendation that comes to mind though.

Do you mean you removed the overdrive housing from the transmission? I'm not following why you removed the transfer case to service the output housing, its fully removable in chassis.

Keep in mind, the 241 may be a bit longer, requiring shortening the driveshaft.....
