Default 95 2500 what is this 9 pin pigtail for? factory prepped brake control?

its not part of the plow wiring you see around it, and goes in to the dash harness, a possibly related question is this truck came prewired or preped, according to the build sheet,
for towing but how did the brake controller work with that, I assume it didnt come provided by dodge? Its got the large tow plug in the back. any insight appreciated. all the wires are very thin for the plug so
I can't imagine its for that? but its right where a brake controller would go

You'll have to post a picture, I'm not very familiar with the wiring, most everything I've handled is 96 and newer and I don't recall seeing a diag plug under the hood

I believe I have a diagnostic connector under my hood around the cowl area even thought it's an OBD2 truck, but '96 was the 1st year for OBD2 and I'm not sure if all functions (ie: ABS/brakes) were accessible via OBD2 in '96.

I believe the OBD1's had a connector by the brake booster also. And wire nuts are not appropriate for use on vehicles.

Edit: never mind about the mystery connector, brotha can't count pins....

The OBD1 connector has a distinct shape:

And finally the ABS/Airbag diag connector:
