Transmission shifter linkage reset
About a month ago my transmission started to not shifting properly. So I removed a gal. of fluid from it and replaced it. Still it was not right it was better but not correct I lost the ability to shift into reverse. So a nissan mechanic friend of mine suggested I look into the linkage. After many attempts to get it right I got stupid close but I can't seem to get it perfect. I know I can't be far off cause when im on flat ground and facing downhill is when it acts like it is trying to drive forward when I'm in reverse trying to back up it feelslikea bull ride if i try to give it any throttle. When parked slightly facing up hill going into reverse is perfect. I was told to put it on flat ground release the tension by loosing a set bolt on the linkage manually shift the transmission to neutral then climb out from underneath and put the shifter into neutral. Afterward tighten down the set bolt on the linkage and it should have been correct. However after countless attempts I have not successfully reset the linkage. Is there a way to do this correctly set it so I will get reverse to work properly.
