Default Torque converter upgrade?

I am currently in the process of removing my transmission and having it rebuilt. While researching I’ve seen stuff about upgrading to a higher stall torque converter to get some better acceleration. Is the upgrade worth it? Or will it cause premature wear on the rebuilt transmission? Thanks in advance.

Since you are having it rebuilt, do some upgrades on the trans as well.... Extra clutches/steels, etc. If you tow with your truck, stick with the stock stall speed..... Also, don't cheap out on the torque converter.... The 80 dollar fellers are just NOT a good idea.

I don’t plan to tow with it however in September I am moving and will most likely have to tow a small U-Haul about 1200 miles. Should this be enough to deter me from a higher stall? I am honestly just looking to get some better
acceleration and performance as a daily.

Go ahead and bump stall speed a couple hundred RPM then. Don't go to far, as gas mileage will suffer.

I tow periodically and I lowered my stall speed based on the recommendation of Precision New Hampton when I sourced my new torque converter from them during my 46RE transmission rebuild/beef-up. To improve acceleration, you may want to consider a gearing change. For example, my truck is running 33" tall tires. The stock 3.54 gearing made the truck feel sluggish during takeoff after the tire change. I ended up upgrading to 4.10 gearing and it made a vast improvement in overall acceleration. In addition, my fuel mileage improved slightly. If your truck is 4WD, you will need to change both front and rear axle gearing, if you decide to go this route.

Might want to consider some of the stuff Sonnax offers.
