Default 46re and 46rh compatible parts?

So I attempted to rebuild a 94 ram 1500 5.9 transmission. I lost a spring to the valve body so I bought another one hut mistakenly it was for a 46re transmission not a 46rh. I know the over drive electronics are different but how about anything else? They looked like the same valve body at first glance so I just swapped the solenoids over and installed it. Now it won't shift out of first but I'm not sure if it did that before I rebuilt it since the truck was given to me and it wouldn't hardly drive because the torque converter failed. So I'm not sure if I rebuilt the transmission incorrectly or if the valve body I bought was just complete different and wont work at all with this transmission. Does anyone know if they are the same valve body but only a different overdrive?

The 46RE and 46RH transmission valve bodies are different. The 46RE uses electrical solenoids to control several functions, while the 46RH has electrical control over the overdrive and torque converter lockup. The 46RE also changed things up on about three different times starting in 1996. If you used a late model 46RE (since you didn't specify the 46RE year), you will most certainly encounter issues.

You can also download the parts manual for your year truck to see the factory part numbers associated with each transmission by year via the following link - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html

A lot of manufactures use a year(last two of four) mark cast into the part with a matrix around it. I'm almost positive all the valve body's have them. I was hoping this image was larger but if you look real close it's in the middle top on the right one. This will tell you what year the part was cast and that is a good way to confirm what valve body you have(other than the part #). Check out this link it shows a lot of the differences. SOME parts are used from previous years but you have check.
