Default External cooler

Hello! I am needing some help on how to install a cooler for the transmission. My truck doesn’t have one. It’s a 97 ram 1500 5.9 with 4X4. Any pictures or videos of the installation would be great! Thanks a bunch in advance.

Are you saying you don't have the transfer cooler in the radiator? A external cooler was available from the factory. You can ad a after market one the same way.

actually It does have it. I bought a remanufactured transmission and it came with a cooler and it is instructed to install it.

They want you to bypass the radiator trans cooler, as they fear it is full of junk, from the trans that blew up. Which is not an unreasonable supposition. Basically, all you need to do is disconnect the lines from the radiator, and plumb them into the new cooler, and mount it somewhere in front of the radiator.

I bought a new radiator and new cooler lines. I was hoping for a tutorial on how to install the new cooler.

So you have a new radiator and external cooler. One line from the trans goes to the radiator another line from radiator to external cooler then back to the trans.
