Carbs blowing air out the top
The engine is just an air pump....... If there is nowhere else for the air to go, (clogged cat) it will come back out the intake...... But, the engine will run like crap as well.....
If the cam timing is off, intake valves will still be open when the piston is coming up..... thus, blowing air back out the throttle body.
Of course, if timing is THAT far off, the engine won't run worth beans either..... (or, at least, it shouldn't.....)
Can you post a video of what it's doing???? (upload to youtube, or someplace similar, then link to it here.)
