Default supercharger question

Hey im new here.. for the past week or so i've been coming to this site and reading up on some forums, but the one thing im interested in is supercharging my 2001 1500 ram 318. i was just wondering what you guys prefer for a really good supercharger worth the money because i KNOW they arent cheap. also, is installing a supercharger kindof easy or is it something i'll have to get a shop to do? thanks for the help

I prefer Procharger myself. Intercooled is the way to go if your running boost. The install is pretty straight forward if your mechanically inclined and have tools it shouldnt take too long. My 96 is pretty heavily modified so I had to tweak things every step of the install so it took me a fair bit longer than suggested.

yea... rm-indy has a sickness ... he cant leave his ram alone... im currently working on a 1-800 number for guys like him... when they just cant put the wrench down...

anyway... turbos are usually cheeper and easier to install as they come as a DIY kit... only thing that i know of as a downside to a turbo instead of charged...is turbo has somewhat of a lag to it..waiting for the exhaust to catch up to make the boost...im sure rm-indy can tell you more

I've had the Vortech on mine for around 3 years or a little more with zero problems. Took me about 2 days for install. Instructions were good and they are warrantied for 3 years.

Hey 94Champ, did the airhat that is imprinted with "Dodge Magnum" come from vortech? That is a really nice touch. Looks very professional.

Hey Silver_Dodge, The airhat came with the kit like that except I painted things before I installed them. It is a nice touch tho.

SCs are not hard to install, tuning is the hard part. Most turbo kits are expensive and have intercooler piping problems with fit and finish. Interesting to note that kits are roughly 50% more for Dodge compared to Ford and GM vehicles.
