So recently, I’ve been having brake issues with my 2001 ram 1500 5.9 gas
Even though I’ve replaced all my wheel components and the majority of my brake lines. I still get erratic, breaking such as the rear brakes will engage before the front brakes or sometimes one of the brakes on the front left of the front right will engage first.
I assumed it was a master cylinder problem, so I do plan on replacing that however when I was trying to replace a small brake line on my ABS, it turns out whoever had my vehicle before cross threaded the aluminum so I don’t think I have a fully seated line
So I don’t know if that’s one of the issues related to that
If so, I really would like some input on being able to repair the thread damage in the ABS hydraulic unit block Or some input on how to replace the unit in entirety
The line that is damaged is in the ABS module side as shown in photo on the right side, and the line connects to the right side of the proportional valve
If I have that information, correct
All you have then is a dump valve for the rears. You'll know when it opens, as the pedal will drop some.... If you have random erratic braking front and rear, that is likely still just some air in the system, or calipers hanging up on the guides. Have you replaced the soft lines??
The only lines that been replaced are the lines that go to the rear. The front ones I haven’t gotten a chance to replace yet.But otherwise all of my components, calipers..etc at the wheels are all new
And I had a brake flush done at a shop after I had to work done, and the issue still appears. Like I said, it seems like the rear brakes want to grip before the front brakes and tend to lock up really easy. And usually before the front brakes.

Are the rear brakes adjusted properly? Loosen the parking brake, adjust shoes, then adjust parking brake. If the shoes are too far from the drums, they will grip too fast.
I had so much trouble with the rear brakes, until I replaced the parking brake cables. If the cable does not move freely, it will bind and screw up the adjustment.
