Default 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 rear differential

I have an 01 dodge ram 2500 4x4 diesel that needs a rebuilt axel or shift differential, but I am having a hard time locating one. It’s a Dana 80 3.55 with disc brakes. I was told I could use a 3.54 but that is antilock brakes so not for sure if it will work?? Has anyone swapped them out before? Any suggestions on what I could do?

3.55 or 3.54 just depends on who ya ask. Either should work just fine.

A replacement Dana 80 rear axle shouldn't be too hard to find, depending on where you're living. Check out car-part.com to find one close to you, as shipping that heavy axle would get costly quick..

As stated earlier, either 3.54 or 3.55 ratio will work.

that is a hard axle to find, 4 wheel disc was released mid year 01 to my knowledge , and in the dana 80 hybrid makes less yet, then switching to AAM in 03, if you have factory 4 wheel disc you should have factory 4 wheel abs

Ask local Jeep clubs who's best for diff work. Unless you've trashed a spindle or something it can be rebuilt. Failing that I'd swap in something else and see if you can resolve the tone ring output. You may have to move spring perches and shock mounts, but that's easy.
