All because of the Dodge death wobble bounce
I have a 1997 Dodge ram 5.2 l 318 rear wheel drive that I went over the railroad tracks and it started doing the old Dodge death wobble or Dodge death bounce. And it killed the motor so I posted over to the shoulder of the road and it wouldn't crank so I pop the hood and found the battery has been moved from the battery tray and bounce all the way over to the firewall all I do is move it back to the battery tray got in the truck and it cranked but it would not electronically connect with any drive gear now you can hear the RPMs of the motor adjusts each gear up shifted in but it would not electronically connect and move it through a code that said ignition / distributor speed input circuits, it was pulling just fine before the death horrible bounce has anybody had this type of issue with their second gen Dodge and 46re transmission and what was the issue and how did you fix it. Possible issues with the code through was crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor which I changed both of those those are new and the other common issues will be the TCM which is integrated as one unit with the PCM or afraid or grounded wire or bad plug in the wiring harness or the park neutral safety switch. Please help if you can
I have looked all over the engine bay and fuse box and plugs. Can't find any broke wires, unplugged plugs nothing out of place looking. And I just had a feeling whenever we I find out what it is I'm going to kick myself in the *** cuz it's going to be something simple I just know it
I don't know but this is why I'm hard core about anchoring batteries. And not with bungee cords.
You can get the upper hold down and super long M6 bolts in stainless on Amazon for cheap. If your plastic battery tray has broken out they are available, too, although not entirely cheap -- even for Dorman. It's possible to fix/modify/move the point in the plastic tray to salvage it.
Your primary problem now almost surely requires in-depth diag in person. We'd need to see live data from a few key sensors and do some electrical testing. Hopefully it's simple and not a fried PCM. Also I can't recall if there are fusible links buried in the harnii. Hopefully someone else will know.
If you get it going, order the right parts (or build something if you have fabrication ability) and anchor that battery properly.

I'm trying to decipher the OP description: The engine starts and runs ? When you put it into gear what happens ? What is "does not electronically connect" ? Can you shift manually 1-2-3 and back down when coming to a stop ?
Same here, I learned my lesson the hard way as a teenager when I got stranded on a busy road with a totally dead shorted battery.
