Torque Converters
So I recently purchased a 1500 with a blown 5.9l that was used to search the bottom of a pond for the previous owners brains which have yet to be found.
Im taking the 5.9l out and replacing it with a 5.2l 318 and after the the motor was out I had planned on having to replace the torque converter in the transmission with the one that was with the flex plate on the 318 in the other trucks transmission for balancing issues. As far as I can tell the two converters are both externally balanced with weights on the outside and appear to be identical. Both trucks are the same year 2001 dodge ram 1500s with the only difference being ones a 5.2l and the other a 5.9l. Im curious if anyone could enlighten me on any balancing issues I might encounter if I were to use the converter that was fitted to the 5.9l instead of using the 318 converter out of the other transmission?

95 and older 5.9's had the balance weights on the torque converter, 96 and newer had the balance weights on the flexplate. The older ones also had an offset bolt hole, so the T/C would only bolt up one way.
