Today I got a code 0445 on the truck. I looked all around and peaked my head between the cab and the bed where I could see a few hoses coming out above the gas tank. there was spotting of gas around the top as well as a smell of gas. I think this is the reason for the code and the leak is there above the gas tank. My question is how big of a deal is this, how hard would it be to fix, and how much do you think it would cost to get it repaired?? I don't know if I could fix it myself because it looks pretty hard to get to.

I got 442 and 455 codes and replaced the gas cap. It was leaking just enough to throw codes. Do a search and the gas tank hoses is a common problem. Dropping the tank enough to get to the hoses is a project. I would try the cap first.

 

you would need to drop the tank to fix it. most likely it's a leaky hose which you should be able to fix pretty easily. run the tank down as far as you can before you drop it so it's not so heavy.

oh yeah, download the manual from the merry xmas post tacked to the top of this forum and see how it tells you to pull the tank.
