parking brake light stays on...
The other day I set the parking brake on my 97 ram. After I released the brake the light stays on. If I pull the release towards me a little it does go off. But when I let go - the light comes right back on. Any ideas on what might cause this?
Thanks.

Without actually going out to look at mine, there has to be a pressure switch of some sort that is stuck or maybe the return spring has weakened and is not letting the pedal come fully out.
check the wire going to the park break if its touching anywhere ittl ground and cause your park break light to come on thats how pepole disable the DRL's too if so equiped but sounds to me like a loose wire
Sounds to me like your return spring on the e-brake pedal is stretched. You can replace it or see if you can move the switch back a little to compensate for the spring. It's raining so I choose not to go out and look at mine now, butthere should be a way to reposition the switch...

Well my truck did that when i was just driving out the road and then the ABS light came on. If the ABS light is on then I would say that it is the brake line, the brake line had a pin hole in mine and it was from lighting the tires up. But if the parking brake lights is on then I would say that spring is bad. My dad's 93 cummins parking brake lights stays on and that is because of a weak spring. But it is wore the plum out. Check your spring.
Must be a semi common problem. Sometimes, mine does the same thing. I just reach down and pull the release lever again and the pedal will come all the way up and turn off the light. More than likely, it is your return spring. As for replacement? Dunno. Mine isn't at that point, yet!
