Default radio probs *update*

My radio and overhead lights quit working at the same time. I checked the fuse and it is good. The direct power from the battery to the fuse box has power but no power at the radio on that line. Also the dimmer switch works for the insturment cluster but nothing when I turn it all the way up to turn on the lights in the cab and the light in the back of the truck. I ahve a 30 min drive to work and no radio really sucks.
I went down to get a chiltons on it and it does not have a schmatic on the radio. Am I going to have to tear the dash appart and follow that wire all the way from the radio to the fuse box? I really suck at running down electrical probs. and every time that I pull crap apart I break somthing else (thats why I stay away from doing it). but I cant afford to drop the $$$ to take it to the shop.
Can you help!!! Any ideas if the radio and interior lights are linked anywhere?

Thanks
Dan

are u sure the fuse is not blown, I was working on the truck the other day, and i had no dash lights. I pulled the correct fuse, and it looked fine....

i searched for a little longer, and finally i said F&*! it and replaced that fuse.... everything was ok....

i guess sometimes the fuse blows, but very slightly....

Yeah. I put another fuse in there and nothing at the radio. I even ran the meter over the fuse to check it.
Also I noticed ALLOT of static electricity in the truck real bad. If it is grounded onto the frame somwhere would it cause that??

I had a problem similar to this. It was the fuse in the lowwer left of the block, don't know why cuz it is for the stop lights. But it just came loose and caused my lights and radio not to work. Didn't have any static though. Does anyone know why the stop light fuse would cause this problem in mine?

So I checked the wire between the radio and the back of the fuse box. It is good. But I have nothing from the back of the fuse box to the front.... Is that a bad fuse box??? What else can I check??

Try running a new ground for the lights & radio. If they both went out at once they probably share a ground somewhere under the dash. Is it an aftermaket radio?

Hum... I also had this problem once.. It was the #12 fuse.. It sits in extra fuse holder.. If you just pul it out as far as it goes without opening the extra holder it looks fine.. It delivers power to radio(lighs in radio work), overhead lighs and the data conector(OBDII) and power mirors.
