Default Oil Pressure Drop - Help

I have a 5.2L 96 ram. One day I was getting on the freeway and I got on it a little bit, shortly after my oil light came on and pressure droped to about 10 than to 0 within about 5 seconds. Immediately turned the truck off and pulled over. After about 5 minutes I turned the truck back on and everything seem'd to be okay. I changed the oil and still had the problem a few times afterwards. I then brought it to a mechanic and he replaced my sender unit and that didnt fix the problem. He's got it again now and thinks it may be my guage, he's hooking up a mechanical one now. I know my engine is most likely dirty due to my past overdue air intake being messed up. When I drive normally it seems that it drives just fine, I mostly only have this problem when I get on it a bit and then return to normal driving. Does anyone have any ideas?

sounds to me like the serp belt might be slippin on the oil pump. maybe check that out. if it's got a lot of miles on the belt you should really check it out.

Mechanic said guage is not the problem, he is thinking my oil screen or bearings... I dont think its bearings though, my motor has no noise and the pressure runs perfect when its not messing up.

The pick-up could be getting clogged. That would explain when you shut it off it works again. It could get clogged, then when you shut it off theres no suction, so whatever is cloging it settles back down to the bottom of the pan.
