I have 94 with 5.2 and its using a lot of oil now as well checked inside TB and no oil so feed a vacum hose down into it to the back as it does sit lower and i stuck oil so it does hide.

Hey, can somebody (Steve?) define "lotsof oil" down in the manifold? I have a thin film almost uniformly across the bottom of the intake. It's not a "pool" at least to me. I guess I'm really hoping against hope that I don't have to do this repair in the near future.

well as to my surprise as well..I also have to change out my plenum gasket also. There was definately oil pooling.I was in the process of removing my exaust manifolds and decided to check and replace any other gaskets. Well i also did notice that my coolant is also brown not green. Is this too a sign as well or do you think i have other issues. My truck is a 01 with a 5.2 so i would think rust isnt a issue but i could be wrong. As for the gasket plenum kit iam lucky enough to drive 20 miles and pick it up myself.

cableguy, you should be okay. A thin flim is completely normal. But get a very small mirror and look in all the corners, it can hide in there sometimes. More specificially near the back on the engine.
