I have that exact sticker, only smaller, and upside down, right on the actual PCM. However...most people that have the death flash seem to be complaining of not being able to chirp the tires right off the line w/ out using brakes...i can do that quite easily, and the only time my engine seems to be lacking in low end torque is when the wheater starts to get above 40 degrees F.

Where there different "death flashes" that fixed different things to stop the knocking and pinging? or was it just 1 universal fix.

and thanks for the picture Off Road Teacher

Mine will sometimes smoke the tires if I get on the gas hard from a stop but also will not a lot of times.

Do you have ping? Plenum gasket could be the cause also, if you dont have the death flash sticker look down the tb with a mirror and look for traces of oil.

I've got a trans issue on a 96 5.2 that I tried to fix by replacing the TPS and it seemed to work for a while now it's doing it again. A former Chrysler tech I worked with said I should have the PCM updated or least "flashed" is this part of the Death flash and would help with the trans issues?

i think the hypertechs are deisgned so they can only program one dodge at a time... pretty shiesty..but makes sense... its got some kind of coded software in it that makes you take the software off of the orignal ram so you can put it on a new ram... atleast thats what ive heard

I run mid grade gas and don't the previous owner said it pingged with 87 octane it's rated for but he said it always had done that so he has always run mid or high grade in it. I had a shop clean my TB recently as they said it was very dirty and they didn't say anything about the plenium gasket but when looking down it you could see a little oil but not much at all and it may have just been grease.

Sorry to butt in on a thread, but Ive got to ask a question. Ive got a 2001 1500 with the 5.2, and Ive been reading alot on this forum about the "death flash". I checked my computer the other day and there is a sticker over top of the orriginal sticker that says "AUTHORIZED COMPUTER UPGRADE", my question is, is this the death flash sticker, and how exactly can you tell?

thanks
JIM
