Default heater?

Heat does not seem to be blowing hot air....if i turn the fan part off, you can feel a little hot air coming through the vents...but if i turn the blower on..the air coming out is semi warm. Any ideas? its a 97 ram

Sounds like the thermostat is stuck open. Or someone installed a shutoff valve in the heater hose under the hood.

Check your T-stat, as Racinfan mentioned.

Also, check your coolant level. If it's low, flow to the heater core will be the first thing you lose.

i had the exact same problem... i took it to the only shop that i ever take my ram to ... had the do a coolant flush... the stuff that came out was pretty nasty... and refilled it and it worked a little better... so i put a peice of cardboard on the rad for now untill i tear down for the plenum change to check the t-stat and prolly RandR it... at the same time ill be installing elec fans .. with an in-cab override shutoff switch is i can control the fans also if i go weelin i can shut them off or keep the running the whole time..

Wow Ram1500 that is exactly the same problem I'm having, down to a t. It's even the same year Ram, haha. I was wondering what the problem was, I think I will do the 180 degree thermostat and flush my coolant again this weekend. I did it sunday and it was all rust colored and ****, nd i checked today and it was lookin pretty dirty. Luckily I still have all my Jiffy Lube buddies from when I worked there, and I can service everything I need to. I started this past Sunday and I'm gonna finish this coming Sunday. Engine flush, oil change, trans service, transfer case service, fuel filter, pcv. I'm thinking it will run a lot better once I'm done, haha.

Make sure you put Etholyne Clychol in there. The green stuff, not Propolyne or whatever that GM Dex-Cool crap is.

my '01 ram is doing the same thing....
i replaced the t-stat, cap and flushed everything out but i still get cooler heat on high setting and pertty hot on low...i dropped a thermomiter in the vent and pulled about 120 degrees out of it.......
i dont know what else to do, i burped the system and everything.....drives me nuts...
i dont see any holes in my hoses and they dont apear to be clogged, i think i may have a slight blockage in my heater core
any ideas? it gets up to temp fine, on 20degree mornings it takes about 7-10 miles for the temp to get into the normal but on warm days she's fine....(still blows cold ari on high setting; warm on low)
i'm lost
