Default RE: best of the best..

I want to preface my comments on this one with the fact that I really can only speak from experience on the mods that I have actually tried. I wish I could afford to compare several brands of headers, exhaust, programmers, etc..., but due to budget, I researched and bought what I could afford, and then replaced it with another type/brand only if I found it to be crappy. That said, I also have over 3000 posts on various forums asking questions about all this stuff, and this is what I have come to learn.

The things that I have learned above all else are that:
-opinions vary,
-what works on one truck might suck on another,
-some trucks can go 300000 miles with everything stock, some break going to the mailbox,
-modding is addictive,
-opinions vary,
-part selection depends on how you use your truck (street, off-road, towing, etc...),
-part selection depends on your goals for your truck (mileage, performance, etc...),
-part selection should consider the future mods you may want to also do,
-opinions vary,
-forums can be the best place to get answers and opinions, but in the end you have to just try something to know if it is going to work good for you.

I recommend you continue to gather other opinions too. Don't go off what just one person says.
Good luck!!

the hypertech and mopar pcm do the same thing... the modified kegger is when you cut down the runners on the inside of the intake, moving the powerband up off idle. great for 2x4's or std cab 4x4's but for a QC you might loose too much low end (dont recall your truck) I have one of these sitting in my garage. pulled really strong from 2600 rpms and made driving at higher rpms a blast. just not strong enough down low for my tastes...

those are basically the same thing with the mopar pcm you will need to run premiun gass the hypertec/superchip gives you the option as well as the option of a tow setting where as towing is not recomed with the mopar pcm

Good job Silver! I have to agree with most of your statements, though in my case its gone well beyond an addiction lol.

Regarding your narrowed list,
Im sure you just missed it but no wires mentioned, Taylors or MSD wires needed if your running an ignition box, suggest getting the blaster coil as well

There is no MP PCM available for an 01 but the 00 does work on early 01s. Dont quote me on the date but I believe if your 01 is built before June of that year you can use the 00 pcm. If someone knows please correct me

New cam, aside from springs, rods & retainers be sure to also replace the tchain with a Mopar double roller while its apart
Beerbarrel going back in modified or not, get the Hughes Plenum gasket kit and bolt kit
If your going MP 2.02 RT heads, ported is better. Either way put felpro 1008 gaskets under them with ARP head studs securing them. Ported 2.02 heads may need to bump injectors to 24lb (FMS)
Go with matched Ford Motorsports 21lb injectors they will vary by .1 ohm resistance (Mopars .2 spread) or 24s depending on head/cam specs.

Something else to think about

With more hp bigger gears and tires your tranny needs consideration.
Transgo Shift kit, synthetics and a cooler or big pan recommended. Transmission temp gauges can save a rebuild.
Bigger tires, higher levels of performance means you need better brakes. Id suggest upgraded rotors/pads, either the crossdrilled, slotted or combo of both(best/not cheap) with carbon metalic pads. SSBC, Power slots and Power Shots most popular.

Sorry if I went to far but what can I say,,,,,Im a mod junkie
