Default Wondering about the new links within posts

well to be honest I dont like it.

I want you guys to make money so you can keep this great forum running. But... I dont like my text underlined like that. Ill have to figure out how to de-activate it. I do click on your ads to the right here because they intrest me. I think the underlined words is distracting. Too many ads can be a bad thing.

Just my comments from a regular poster

Oh yes - the flashing ads to my right are annoying. why do they have to flash?

thx

zeek

Because flashing ads tend to get people's attention....and while the underlined words is annoying, the rest of it is just how websites like this one stay alive....

Welcome to the 21st Century...

In most cases you would be correct....however some webpages have this function built in. It applies to Nouns and will link you to sites that are you usually sponsor related or to sites that are similar to what you are discussing.

I did see that once - I had some spyware on my laptop that underlined my own personal webpage. And I know I dont have ads on that.

Google has an advertising package you can setup that does it on your site. It's not alaways adware/spyware.

Personally, I don't like it either and hopefully I'll never have to do it to keep any of my sites open.

I don't like it either, so I followed the disable instructions to get rid of it.
