yah youll for shure wanna fuse post 30 of your relay. somewhere between 5-10 amps (depending on the amprage and number of lights) then 85 to a good ground, 86 to the park lights (black w/yellow but be shure to check it first) and 87 to your new lights
Okay all of your replies have helped alot but one more thing. I've never put in a relay so maybe this is a dumb question but what do the numbers 30,85,86,87 mean? Are they corresponding the relay somehow? Oh and yes I currently have a 15 amp inline fuse between the switch and hot power wire I'm using now that I'll use for the relay.

yes those numbers corraspond to the relay termanals if you look at the bottem of the relay you will see 5 blade termanals they will be numbered (usally molded in small numbers on the plastic) 30 85 86 87 87A (you wont need to use 87A) just hook em up as i told ya ( 30 to power {your fuse}, 85 to a good ground, 86 to the park lights (black w/yellow but be shure to check it first) and 87 to your new lights

^a typical relay the termanals are what the numbers corraspond to

i always thought that the running lights looked tacky unless they were on a frieghtliner.. but your rig looks pretty slick with them!

depends on the DOT there is one scale where i swaer they send all the rookies to, technally all of them are susposto be working some will just tell u to fix them before you come back most dont care then some wont let you leave. once wen i went through there the dident check anything on my truck the went through the pilot truck there is susposet be 8 lights behind the D-sine 2 bulbs were burnt out i wasent aloud to leave till they were fixed and this was in the middle of the day and i dident have any spare bulbs in the truck that time...figures
