Default Concerning Problem

What happens is, is when im on the gas about 1/2 throttle, accelerating sorta hard off the line, my engine acts like it's cutting out, for a breif second, then it comes back, and it does this over and over untill i let off the throttle...it also does this when im at WOT. What i noticed too, was the RPM's on the tach actually stop rising when the engine "cuts out". This all started happening randomly about 2 weeks ago...and it's got me really confused and concerened

I had the same problem when my cat started going bad. I junk of the cat would get stuck and block the exaust gasses from being released. pull your front o2 sensor and make a few test runs see if it is anybetter. If the truck runs better have your cat replaced.

That could very well do it. Or simply check all your ignition system. Where the engines under heavy load there may be an electrical problem and you don't get a spark or something.

If you truck downshifts while your getting on it pretty hard, sounds like your rev limiter is activating. Does it shift a few gears and then you mash it?

It doesnt do it after it shifts a few gears, then downshifts, It only does it when im like accelerating hard in first or second, I first started thinking it was the tranny, but it shifts fine. IT Mostly happens when im coming off the line, and im accelerating normal, then i start accelerating progressivly more, but when i let off the gas, and start accelerating normal again, or start cruising, it goes away.

Hey,
a few possibilities, not knowing previous maintenance, crank snsr faulty, Ign. wires & dont forget the coil wire post on cap is broken, high resistance on dist. rotor, wiggle wiring at ign. coil (small primary wires), the flaw is loomed wiring rests near belt tensioner and the constant vibration breaks wire internally and can usually be found with visible swelling of wire right at coil pigtail, also by wiggling while engine running, also causes stumbles at idle.
Marc.

What coil would u recommend?

Another thing i noticed....is that it doesnt happen nearly as bad if i let the engine warm up for like 10 mins before i start driving, but if i drive right away when the engine is cold, it happens bad.
