im in the process of looking for a new truck, and i like the 96-01 rams, reg or quad, with a short bed, after some mods like, 36" tires, 8" of lift, 4.56 gears, kn intake, flowmaster exhaust, what kind of gas mile will i be gettin with a v8 or the cummins?

 

8-10 mpg. with a 5.9

 

lots of bolt ons... 13~14 mpg
4.11's and 295r75-16's

 

I'd have to agree with the 8-10....considering the tires and gears you want.

Diesel wouldn't be much better...13-14ish, but the initial cost is going to be a lot higher!

 

yeah my 5.2 gets 12-14 mpg and its only lightly mod.

 

oh yeah, another thing... the higher up you go, the worse it gets (from what I hear anyway).

the bigger your tires, the harder your motor has to work to get it up to and maintain the speed you want. the more gas is used. i'm kinda supprised at my mpg performance. my motor (when working well) hauls *** and still got around 14 mpg average (with my foot in it).

just a CAI FIPK and the headers highflow cat flowmaster and duals... ( i checked the piping to ensure that it wasnt bottlenecked in any places after you posted about yours dropping down like it was, i didnt think it was b/c i was the one that put it on but i checked to make certain)

4.10's with 265/17's (winter tires... no recalibrations) and i get 250 - 260 a tank with a 26 gallon tank on a good day..usually its worse then that...thats all highway driving from home to college and back ..all freeway...not even a full mile off of the freeway and speeds less then 70-80 in OD
