Default my friends dad has a prob

I got a call from pops today. He and mom were taking my brother's 6x8 trailer back to him in my dad's 99 Ram 1500 w/ the 360 and all of a sudden..... BOOM! Antifreeze and all sorts of yummy liquid started pouring out his exhaust and now they're stranded till my brother comes and picks them up. Dad figures it was either a cracked head or head gasket. He said it wasn't running hot and knowing dad he kept it out of overdrive. He checked out the water pump and the seals look good. So you figure he needs a new motor or a rebuild now? Is this a common problem with these trucks because there's only a 60k on the clock.

Cracked heads on the 360s are a common problem IIRC. [>:]

yea the heads crack but i never heard of them cracking so bad that itll mix the coolant into the exhaust ports... thats a major crack... only thing that i know of to do with the cracking is misfires and cross cylender detonation...

tear the top end of the motor down and send the heads off to get exrayed to see what the conditions are

or the gaskets crapped the bed so bad that could have cuased it
