Hope you guys don't mind a nube jumping in, but I thought maybe yall could help me understand this breather thing. I always thought that the breather tube just provided filtered air and that air (gases) was sucked out of the pcv valve, and that putting a filter on the breather side keeps the motor from stealing intake air. If air is going out of the motor into the intake via this tube, is vacuum supposed to be present on the breather tube to help suck gases out of the motor?

btw I have a breather filter installed now.

glad you had a good time steve... if i wanted to go camping now id need some deep arctic gear to survive...
Deep Artic Gear thats funny. NOT!! J/K I do it evey year in a tent in January it's awesome camping in the winter in Western New York.

On the breather disscusion I agree totaly with the breathers. Everyone seams to have the same thought that I did about the pcv side. Check this out take a look at the second one I would say that this is what we are talking about. After all the work done on the Performance how about something that adds a little bling and actually works.

Ramman, The ones me and Steve and Shott have been talking about do not have the hose fitting on them like the 2nd one in the picture. We're talking about eliminating that hose to the air cleaner. Back somewhere in this thread I posted a pic of the one we're talking about.....

Yeah I know, I was talking about shotts idea about the PCV side. If you look at those they are a breather with a PCV valve on them. Which is what he is talking about, removing the valve and putting on a breather. With this you still have the valve and the air entering the intake is filtered. I have been running breathers on valve covers for years, my old 87 had Mopar performance covers and thats all I could put on them cuz the grommets where so big.

No, I pulled the plastic piece with the 90 degree elbow out of the grommet, which leaves a 1" hole. The filter I got has a 1" male end that plugs right in to the rubber grommet on the pass. side after you remove the plastic fitting............

got the breather on and had the same results as the little test i ran (pulled the tube off and let it run) smoothed out the idle and the motor seems to pull a bit harder... thanks for that part number racin...the morons at autozone had not a clue what i was talking about.... and i cracked the hell out of the 90 deg fitting...had to pull the vavle cover off to get that peice out.. PITA...got it out and put that brether on... itll be a while before i can do a yay or nay on the mpg etc.

Just for info purposes - that plastic fitting you broke was $4 at the stealership - I got one just in case the "emission & safety inspection *****" here give me any hassle next time I get inspected.
Yeah, I broke mine off too, trying to pull it out. I was able to pry the bottom out with a screwdriver though......
