285's are 33" tires, just narrower.

You might be able to put 35's on a 3" lift, it all depends on the truck.

But I've been debating the same thing, whether to put a 12.5" wide tire on our stock 7" wide wheels [&:]

I'm sure it would work, but it probably wouldn't be that stable. So no taking turns at 50 mph, and squeeling the tires going sideways lol

You can get some steel wheels for like $50 a pop if you look around. A cheap way to go

another thing to think about.... if you put a wicked wide tire on a tiny thing wheel... itll will throw off your backspacing measurements... i think...not sure...7" wide factory wheel with a chunks of rubber sticking out the sides will be in different distance then a 10" wide rim with the same size tire..itll belp to keeep the rub out i think...not sure though... kinda high right now on superglue fumes and got a wicked headache

BUT IF I WENT THAT BIG WOULD I HAVE TO CHANGE GEARS .....OR SHOULD I JUST GO WITH 33X12.50

If you have a 3" on a 2wd it'd probably be cutting it close, but doable. What are your gears at now?

For 35's your gonna want ATLEAST 3.92's, and thats low. You'd really want 4.10's or 4.56's to go with that. Low than that and the engine is gonna have to work to harder to get going and stay going, killing your MPG and power.
