Transmission Growl
Some of you are aware of my misfire problem. The truck is going into my garage this week and I will begin removing the throttle body and the injectors. I found a place that can ultrasonically clean the injectors and fuel rails to insure all gunk and crud has been removed. The best part is that for the price to clean all 8 injectors of a V8 it would cost the same as buying 2 new injectors.
Now, I used the truck this weekend to move my 16' trailer than has an old VW on it. The problem is that while backing, the transmission made this deep growl, or, acted like it was slipping before it enganged. I had the transmission flushed and a new filter installed shortly after I bought the truck. It has 114K miles on it. I'm thinking to play it safe and get a shift kit plus a rebuild to head off potential problems. Anything I should know?

I had that same problem awhile back... It was growling and slipping... Over time I had to get higher RPM for the reverse to kick in and finally it just completely blew out on me and I had to have the entire tranny rebuilt... If it's a stock transmission, you might want to have it looked into... I know some of them come with the aluminum gears and over time that aluminum just doesn't hold up.
