Default TB and Intake Q's

First I wanted to say thanks for an incredible site. I was about ready to trade in my '99 Ram because of the detonation and lack of power. Then I came across this site and found out about the plenum gasket problem. Spent this last Saturday doing the repair with a billet plate along with a much needed tune up. It's like a new truck.

Now to the question: I know a 50mm TB and 2bbl intake will improve performance but how much? I'ts a 5.2 and I already have a K&N CAI, Gibson Exhaust (headers and cat back), and Hypertech programing. Looking for a little more justification than "you will see a difference". It's easier to sell the wife on it if I can say how much of a HP gain or percentage gain.

Thanks again for a truly great site,
Dan

Welcome to DF!

the 50mm Fastman TB is what you want. you think your plenum fix made it a new truck... you'll fall in love with it all over again once you have a TB on there. worth every penny.

is yours a 2x4? quad cab? or what?
how is the cat back setup? you sould be able to find lots of go-fast goodies for your motor... there is another thread on here that lists motor setups... have a look at what's possible for your truck.

oh yeah,... we need pics! [sm=icon_cheers.gif]

DANS i dont mean to steal your thread but didnt wanna start another thread about the exact same thing.....

....so-

ive been lookin at the 50mm Fastman TB- on the website it says 250 plus 80 dollar core- maybe im just dumb but does that mean 330? or does he mean the 250 is already including the 80 bucks?

anyways thats not what im most worried about.

how hard/easy are those to install? ive heard its 'kind of easy' and it doesnt seem that hard- but then again i dont want to get started in something only to find out i cant finish it. whats yalls opinion on install?

they are a piece of cake to put in... 3 linkage cables to remove (auto tranny, & cruise), 3 plugs for the connectors, 1 vacuum line and swap over the sensors to the new TB... shouldnt take more than 30~45 minutes max.

250 does not include the core charge. he needs the cores to contiune modifying them for sale and relies on them to keep him supplied with useable TB's...

My truck is a '99 1500 4X4 QC 5.2 with manual tranny, 3.55 diff, 3" Rancho lift, 9000 shocks, and 285/75/16 General AT's. The catback is a single Gibson. Went with the single because I tow a 22ft trailer and dirt bikes to the desert. After reading more last night I ditched the Hypertech 160 T Stat and went to a 180 and then put a filter on the valve cover breather and pluged the intake end. It runs even better. I've already found several mods I want to do and the wife just keeps rolling her eyes as I talk about TB's, intakes, and rockers. Wait until I start talking about heads and stroker cranks when it's time for a rebuild.

Still curious if anyone has numbers on the increase you get with the TB and then with a 2bbl intake. Even if it's just an estimate that would be great.

YES, that is exactly what needs to be done. once he has your core, he'll credit your account with the $80 bux.
