RPM Jump !!Help!!
No i havent taken it into a shop yet, so i havent checked the codes or anything..... im still hopeing its the TC-at worst. Im just letting it sit for now. As far as the tranny fluid, it looks just fine...but like the mechanic i talked to awhile ago said, it could be a number of things...Im going to take it to a different dealership, one ive had good luck with in the past that is about 150 miles away, (but is on the way to parents house) and that will be the final test. If it acts up during that 150 miles its going in the shop, if it doesnt then that's good. !!! High Hopes !!!!
Just a shot in the dark...
If the TPS was replaced, you may want to try the brake light switch as it kicks the lock-up off when you hit the brakes.
Quick test:
Get 'er warmed up and hit the highway.
After reaching highway speeds, apply just enough pressure on the pedal to make the brake lights come on.
You should hear it and see the RPMs change.
If this occurs, the the switch is fine.
The OD unit will throw the tranny back into third(D) if there is too much of a hydraulic pressure loss.
The OD shift solenoid could also just be bad.
Any of these can happen without sending a single code...

I'm glad to hear that some have had the sensor issue and was fine.
Another issue that might be considered is a trailer brake unit... I had one installed at U-Haul and after 8-12 months the brake lights would come on sitting in the driveway for a few seconds and go out. Sometimes 10 to 15 seconds. I took the wire off the relay and it stopped. So I know it is the controller doing it. Don't know if it ever did it going down the road though. If it did this on the road it would cause the same effect with the converter unlocking. They replaced the relay once and it still happening. They will replace unit when I get it to them.
I was one of the unfortunate ones that had the same trans. issue and after a week or so the check engine light came on. Took it to the local Autozone and it had the converter code. Luckily I had an extended warranty and the dealer bit the $2000. tab to replace the trans. The converter and pump were toast and put metal all through the trans.
How do you get your pic. on the side bar?????????

Yeah as far as toasting the coverter and the pump, im hopeing if mine IS going bad that it can withstand 200 more miles.....there is a big difference between $500 and $1500. No warning lights or signs of dirty fluid.....yet.....

Trucks at the dealership now, but I tried what you said about tapping the brakes, once it started "slipping," if you will, i applied just enough pressure to the brakes to make the lights come on, the RPMs would shoot up the go back down to their normal level. Soooo lol any idea what that means??? If i understood you correctly, it means that the brake light switch is fine, but would that mean anything else???
Well boys.........got the news today that my torque converter is going bad, haveing that and a # of other minor things fixed.....but at least it wasnt the tranny.[X(]
It is the vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission tail shaft. All you need to change it is the $38 part from autozone and a 10mm wrench. It is really easy. Change it NOW before your truck starts doing what mine did before I figured it out. It dropped into 1st gear at 70 mph. That was not good. It started out doing EXACTLY what you are describing and after about 9 months got worse.
