Default Throttle Body Spacer

Everything I have ever heard had always kind of led me to believe that a TB spacer was unnecessary and didn't really do all that much. This weekend, however, I was watching 'Two guys garage' and they were fixing up a chevy truck and doing a RW dyno run after every mod... and the TB added about 24 ft/lb tq at the wheels! Does anyone have a good TB spacer and can verify that it actually WAS good cheap power?!

Do a search for it on these Forums... I think you will find that they are a WASTE of money, at least for a Dodge.

Was the old Chevy truck carburated? Because they do help when used on vehicles that use Carburetors. They DO NOT help on vehicles using fuel injection.

If it was a fuel injected truck, then they should've gone to a different dyno shop, because the dyno at that one was obviously waaaaaaaay off [>:] There are certain brands of dynos that are good, and certain ones that you can never trust.

Check the link below my post for more spacer myth info.

Might work on an old TBI, total waste of money on MPFI with a dry manifold.

The Chevy was a '94 and when they were putting it on I was thinking it must have been throttle body injected but later one of the guys made a comment about it being MPFI...

I kinda figured it was too good to be true... the one they used was a 'Trans-dapt' 'swirl-torque' tbi spacer

Ram_Sport,

I had one of those thingies on my truck and it caused more problems than it was worth. I live at 6500 feet and I can tell you this, the Dodges don't like those things at this altitude. Engine ran rough, and hesitated a bit. Yes, everything was tight and had no vacuum leaks.

At lower altitudes, like Las Vegas, it seemed to help a little for extra power, but the rough idle and hesitation were still there.

All in all, definately NOT WORTH IT. I use mine now to hold the place in my service manual!!
