thanks guys!
thanks guys!
the 265 is width. not height. so usually 265 can be anything between 29 inches (my old 265s where 29 inches) but when i was shoppin around for tires, i saw 265s that where up to 31 inches. the easiest way to find out the real measurement in inches is just to use a tape measure and find out yourself.
Try this site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html If it works you should be able to figure it out.
265 by what (75, 85) but there around a 31
here this was posted a while back its how to figure it out just fill in for what you have
The first number you know is the width in mm (265)
the second number is an aspect ratio for how tall the side wall is (75)
In this case 75% of the tread width (works out to 265 * .75 = 198.75)
That is the sidewall height, so multiply it by 2 (397.5)
Everyone likes inches better (397.5 / 25.4 = 15.65")
Add that to the wheel diameter (15.65 + 16 = 31.65) for a 16 in rim
That's the tire outside diameter when new, it's also assuming the tire is perfectly round, hard to measure with a measuring tape due to loading when on the vehicle.

In some cases the tire manufacture will have the tire specs on their web site. I know BFG and Nitto do...
