Default Fuel pump

Well been trying to save some cash for the wheelbearing and plenum gasket repairs when my fuel pump decides to give up the ghost in the middle of a rainstorm 40 miles from home.First I flipped out then just started to laugh as I payed 120.00 for a tow and 192.00 for the pump when is it going to end? Anyway taking the bed off is the easiest way to do it. Ive done it both ways and thats the best.I like to tell people im restoring a 98 Ram 1 part at a time

Actually...dropping the tank is the best. Just fuel lines, filler neck, some wires and two straps (helps if they're not rusted). Took me a little over an hour to do it. But hey, that was just me

Sorry to hear about your problems.

Yeah, well disconnecting those damned electrical connectors is a joy. The Haynes doesn't explain how to trigger the locking clip. I spent a great seal of time swearing at that thing until I got the tank dropped and could get a good look. I may be nimble, but there's not much wiggle room under that truck. Oh, having an almost empty tank helps too.

yeah, i'm on my last ditch effort to avoid swapping my pump... doing a high concentration of FI cleaner with octane booster per someones recommendations... we'll see on the next fillup how well it did. (truck runs totaly different right now... better yes, right no).

LMAO, I see a few of us had fun! Dropping it is no problem and took minutes, empty tank, used my shop jack, but those clips raise my bloodpressure just thinking about them. Thanks a pant load Haynes. I have to bite the bullet and get the oem manual. Haynes suck!

pulling the bed gives you all the room you need plus you can see how the clips work.I broke a line on my 97 pulling the tank.To each there own.

I thought about the bed when I was cursing dropping the tank. It's basically 6-of-1, half a dozen of the other.
