Default Limp mode

I drive other Dodge/Chrysler vehicles and some have the limp mode feature for when the transmission goes bad (bad solenoid, sensors, etc). It will stay in 1st gear and not shift to avoid damaging other components. Do the automatic transmissions on 2nd gen Rams have this feature?

Only the fully electronic transmission have the limp-in mode. It's second gear that they stay in for that. The trucks didn't get fully electronic transmission until '02 for 1500s and '03 for the bigger boys. Before the full electronic ones there was no limp-in, as an example my truck has a 47RE the only electronic control is the torque converter lock up in overdrive, the first 3 gears are still controlled by governor pressure.

Thanks for the responses. Less eletronics in the transmission can be a good thing.
