Default thermagasket - yay or nay?

anyone here ever try thermagasket to repair a damaged head gasket? looks promising...but of course everything does on the seller's site. $99 and a money back guarantee vs a $1200+ new gasket install...

Look at it this way -- You use it and it fails. You get $99 back PLUS more to spend repairing what should have been repaired properly from the start. That's just my opinion.

i definitely figure its worth a shot. i am just looking to see if anyone used it here. i do not agree with the "fix it the right way, otherwise it will fail" crowd.
my dad used some copper block sealer in his '86 caprice to fix a cracked head back in 1992, and that thing still runs perfect, without a leak. that was 100,000 miles ago.
i used the same stuff in my '84 corvette to fix a few cooling system leaks, and it was fine up until the day i traded it, about 10,000 miles later.
hell, i even used some JB weld to cover up two 6" long cracks in the block of a 1979 corvette, that had frozen in the winter with only water in the cooling system. that held for months (driven daily) w/o a problem before i sold it.

if i was going for a full restoration i would fix it properly, but for work vehicle or just a car thats not worth dumping thousands into, these chenical sealers DO work.

what's wrong with it to begin with? My opinion... some bandaids work, some dont... better to just fix it the right way.

Thumbs up Great product!

After having replaced both head gaskets in my Plymouth Voyager 3.0 and still getting milkshaked oil and lots of steam from behind, I decided to try Thermagasket. I flushed the cooling system ten times to make sure all the antifreeze was gone and then followed the instructions by the letter. After only a couple of minutes after adding the Thermagasket, the cloud from behind deminished and disappeared and I was totally amazed at the effect of this remedy. The engine started running smoother and I left the Thermagasket solution within the system for the next 50 miles or so. Then I flushed the cooling system, filled it up with new coolant, drained the engine oil, put in a new oil filter and oil, and I have not had any problems from that day on.
This was a year and two months or 10000 miles ago. I have no problem recommending this solution to anyone! Great product!

I know Bars Leaks make's stuff that you don't have to flush the coolant. My once upon a time boss used it in his chevy 3500 diesel and it worked and is working still. That was a year ago and a lot of miles later.
