Default Holy gas mileage batman!!!!!!!

well finally burned through a tank of gas today... this is after my hypertech programing,, ... 87 octane program and finally got the tire size straightened out...

i USED to get only 230 to 240 miles to the tank .. witch is an avg of 8 to 9 miles to the gallon

my fuel light binged on me and i looked at the odo... i got a surpising 310 miles to the tank... i damn near shat myself ... im looking at about 12 miles to the tank now... i know it had alot to do with the fact that my tire size was off in the computer... that compounded with the program... did wonders for me..i feel much better now... and still have my mods waiting..

i got the most part of the motor torn down..of course no pics b/c the batts died as soon as i turned it on to take some ....i was actually able to get the fan shroud off before i had to unbolt the actual fan clut assy from the water pump pully..... the clutch assy was a bit of a PITA ... nothing a good crowbar and my uncle's big *** on the other end of a pipe wrench couldnt handle...

my drain plugs for the coolant under the blocks was too ceased to turn so i had to drain the messy way... popping off the lower rad hose and getting a coolant shower...

a few questions....

you guys that have done work to your trucks that has involved taking off coolant lines.... you ever think about swapping all them "spring" type clamps for regular screw type hose clamps...them clamps for the hoses are a serious pita if there clocked in an awkward way... i was thinking of swaping most of them out for reuglar screw type hose clamps for easier removal next time...

i have another question but ill start a new thread for it b/c its a different par tof the truck...

anywhoo... tomorow off comes the intake man ... and putting my hughes plate on..cleaning up the injector ports abit.....and gotta hopefully get to the msd install... and possible start fabbing the mounting frame for the elec fans...

ill post back tomorow night some updates of how tomorow gos!

Screw type clamps work just fine, in fact better I'd say. Make sure you get stainless steel ones and put a little grease in the thread before you install them.

As for gas mileage: I get a steady 515km/tank (320miles/tank) mostly city. It's a 130L tank. Zero engine mods.

You can get a special pair or plyers to get those hose clamps off, they work GREAT no matter ho hard it is to get to. They can't be to expensive

Gotta love a mod that increases (returns) mpg plus gives hp as well. Win Win situation, should pay for itself in no time with a 25% increase in mileage

I would use bolt type clamps over the so so worm gear clamps. Couple securing the rubber connectors to the tubes for my pipes in & out of the intercooler are already stripped. Never did get it sealed up tight before some of them let go. Im sure at wot underload the cooling system would be under more pressure then my s/c was kicking out at the time.

Holy crap got boost?! [&:] You wouldn't want to be near that engine on the dyno if one of those coolant hoses popped off. [sm=escape.gif] Your truck is bad azz man
