Default Actual Brake lights staying on

This sounds simple and maybe it is. The actual rear brake lights are staying on all the time, even.. I disconnect the battery last night but need to resolve the problem today. I supect the switch at the brake pedal (if there is one).. just thought I would post my problem and hope some of you would provide tips in trouble shooting the problem before I venture outside this afternoon to fix my problem. It is -10 degrees and the less time I spend trouble shooting the better.

could be the switch. My friends truck did the same thing and it turned out to be the trailer wiring at the back of the truck. shorted accross 2 wires and turned on the brake lights.
