Fuel rail removal HELP!!!!!!
Okay here's the problem a rodent made a nest up in my 96 ram 5.2L and chewed crossover fule hose on the fuel rail. After seraching to no end for a hose to replace the leaking hose I gave up and bought a used fuel rail assembly on ebay. My question can somebody give me a basic step by step on replacing the fuel rail and any special tools I might need. Thanks
you'll need a fuel line removal tool... about $15 bux at the auto parts stores... other than that, un-bolt it and use a screw driver to gently pry up the rail with all the injectors on it. then you can swap over the injectors. put a thin coat of oil on the o-rings prior to installing the injectors into the rail and intake manifold. it's easiest to put the rail and injectors back on to the manifold together as one unit...

[:@] scream, cuss, and finish your work that needs to be done and put the connectors back on. I've busted almost all of mine already. I was going to go to the dealer today actually to see if I can get new ones but never made it.
i did the same thing steve...one of my injector pigtails doesnt even clip in... i used a dab of super glue to hold it in there untill enough break and i have to order either a new harness or get to the scrap yard and cut off some of the pig tails off of a wrecked ram...
i went through3 fuel line removal tools before i had the right size...i dont know the size exactly but its pretty much the smallest one you can find that fits in there... prolly be done with screw driver if you have the patience and about2 hrs...
and dont use a screw driver and a BFH to get the injecters back into the manifold... they crack... dont ask me why i know this... oil is your friend!!! just not a whole quarts worth.
if you can get new orings while your at it...mine were pretty loose and i shoulda replaced mine but the stealership said it would take like a week to get them in...

he's talkin about the red tab that slides outward away from the injector .. that unlocks the clip on the connector itself and your able to push in on it and release the conector..... after all that i still had to wiggle the hell out of the connector to get it to come off... i even used pliers to get a good grip on the connector to give it a hell of a jiggle ... just becarefull
