Default battery relocation

I have a 99 ram 1500(2 wheel drive)I'm thinking of relocating my battery to the bed of the trk. and was wanting to know if this would cause problems.I was told by a friend that there would be a loss amperage be cause of the difference in the lenght of the positive cable,or something to that effect, could use some help in finding out if this is a problem or not. Please let me know if this is true or where to go to find out for sure.
Thanks for any help you can provide

Use a vented battery box mounted directly to the bed floor. Run the ground through the bed and to the frame (use grommets where the wires pass through the bed floor). Keep the groundfrom the battery to the frame as short as possible, but allow for some slack (the bed can move a little b/c of the bushings). Run another short ground wire from the engine block, again to the frame. Run the poitive wire to the starter as normal. You could go one size up on the gauge if the length is appreciably different. This is an old drag racing trick to help weight transfer on launch. Also, remember that the groung contact points need to be CLEAN in order to function properly. This means getting down to bare metal where theground strap meets the frame. Youcan primer or maybe POR15 back over top of it when you are done.

Don't forget a wire still needs to be ran to the fuse box thing under the hood.

whenever i needed a no-sh*t good ground i used some of them star washers that grab and bite into the metal... you can get them at a any auto/hardware store...very common and are awesome for ensuring a good ground..
