Steroe System Help
No, I'm replacing the stock with Kenwood speakers.
I got that subwoofer box and am pretty impressed with the quality. It sticks out about an inch farther than the rear seat bottom does, whereas the MTX unit is probably much less intrusive, but it is a fraction of the cost so who can complain.
Anyone know if there is room behind the rear seat back to mount a couple amps on the wall? Just another option I'm considering. Any quick advice to removing the seatback before I start taking stuff apart unnecessarily? (I know I spelled that wrong but I tried).

well depends on what the specs are on your 4channel amp and if the tweets have their own xovers.... its not hard installing your home built xovers inline with tweeters to help to block bass coming through... and the other way aroudn to help tweek out the highs going through to the subs... IIRC a capaciter with atleast a 1000microfarrad rolloff will do the trick for highs like tweets or compnent 4"s ... depending on your compnents you have (if you have any) you maynot need to block them b/c the xover box already does this far more better and effeciantly then any inline bass blockers... id give them there own channels off the component xover box if you have them..if not paralell them off the inputs for the 6X9's and inline block the + wire to isolate lower hertz being sent to them... man i miss installing...
I'm looking at buying one of those KX3 Kicker crossovers.
What I'm wondering is how much room there is behind the real seat and how it is removed. Does anyone have their amps installed back there?

theres probbley room thereto mount them. to get the back of the back seat off i belive you just lift up on it, it hooks onto something on the back wall. i took the back seats out of a half duzon that a forest company bought they took the back seats out and mounted tool boxes there and i think there seprate from the bottem bentch
ok here's my 2 cents... i've pulled out my panels to see what i've got as way of speakers, now i don't have the infinty system, but crutchfield said i had 6.5's front and rear.. i don't. they are 5.5 in the back. also check out www.hifisoundconnection.com they have a good dual 10's sub box for about $120 shipped. it's a downfire so you might have to do some modification on the top deck to get the magnets to clear. i had some infinity references that i put in. it's a flush mount and looks good. i have pics of it if you want them.
forgot to mention that to check your speaker size i would pull the panels off and physically look at them seems like everywhere has a different opinion on what is hiding in there.
i am SURE they are not 6x9's

Thanks crazy1snow, I ended up getting the box from audio fitters. It fits right under the rear seat and my 10" Kicker VR's fit in there with no clearance problems. I am very impressed with the quality.
It seems like there should be room for the amplifiers behind the rear seat towards the floor. The seat is hinged to the seat bottom so I still need to find time to get out there and figure out how to remove it.
I really would appreciate any pictures you could send me. My e-mail is kilmoganny@comcast.net feel free to send whatever you have.
Thanks!

from an installer point of view..and im sure ryan would agree with me... theres pros and cons about downblow or down fire boxes... 9times out of 10 the speakers (subs) are blowing against carpeting... witch acts as a deadner and severley lowers the performance of the subs... if anyone wants to use downblow or downfire boxes.. i suggest augmenting them with a sheet of 3/4 or 1/2 inch MDF or even a 1/4 plexi so that the subs have a hard surface to blow against... makes the subs sound 10 times better! when done correctly i must add

who me? lol
anywas i do agree if there hitting something hard its a krisper or sharper sound or you could say it packs more punch whitch you want with subs. some pepole say the like them because they stay cleen that way but if your worried you can get screens that have nylon over then (like a nylon stocking your wife wares) and besides you keep your truck clean anyways RIGHT
lol
I have my 12 downfiring and I have that plastic stuff that goes over your carpet on the entire carpet area of my truck. You should also try and get 3 inches between the floor and the sub but I know you cant really help it with the custom box, but if there isnt that much room its not the end of the world.
suggested clearence space for 10" subs netting 1000 watts (capable) or less requires approx 3 inches...
when you downblow subs its more of a planning situation instead of just throwing them in and cranking them..
