Stupid question....headlights...
Ok all...Im looking to get some headlights to brighten things up a bit...I have aftermarket PIAA fog lights in the factory 97 ram sport holes that the previous owner put in and they are bright...now I want some bright headlights to go with them. I have $15.00 of credit to summit racing and theres probably nothing Ill need for a while so I was looking at a set of Matrix bulbs that read 100/80 watt....I know I can get them off ebay or any local store, but since I have this credit I fig. I might as well use it...now..are these bulbs worth getting...only thing I was worried about was the wattage...I dont want to run into any problems of running to many watts through the factory harness. Will this be fine? Thanks everyone

Could always go with a Sport Heatlight conversion. This thread has some info on it http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/...6547&old=78064
and this site sells the headlight unit itself as well as the needed wiring harness. http://www.importvision.com/index.ph...ht%20Harnesses
You can usually find the headnight unit on eBay for cheaper or a local junkyard. People that have done this mod say it makes a 100% diffrence!

ive got a set of PIAA xtream white headlight bulbs there by far the best out there in my opinion and i do lits of night driving (ive got a cupple kick a$$ sets of driving lights too) there a but pricy but i think there worth it oh there wattage is 65/45w = 120/95w, 4000K they run on standerd 65/45 but put out 120/95 so you wont run into any probs with a meltdown

RE: Stupid question....headlights...
I tried some Nokya 100w/120w bulbs and they were pretty blue and looked great but you couldn't see as well with them as you could with the factory ones. I decided it wasn't worth the risk of melting the wires and took them back to the store I got them from. I have also tried several other bulbs in other vehicles but that was the only high wattage set. I've tried most of Eurolites and the super plasma's seemed a little brighter but burnt out ever 2 months I've tried more than one set so I wouldn't reccomend them. The Crystals and Fusions look nice and arn't dimmer than stock but not really brighter either.
I also tried Farenheit's and they were a little brighter than stock but not at all blue and still a hint of yellow to them mostly white though. They wern't a huge differnce but were a little brighter. The Silverstars are also a little better although I havne't personally run them in my car or truck they seem similar to the Farenheits maybe a tad bit brighter.
PIAA's are ok but there is an article on them somewhere that tested them and several other bulbs and none were as good as stock. They also seem to burn out quickly. If you want color I'd go with Nokya's if you want light output either do a HID conversion or put a set of Silverstars in.

hmm i wonder how a bulb that has more wattage than stock could be "not as good as stock" lol more wattege=more light output take driving lights for example you can get 55w 100w 130w and 150w (amoung outhers) and obvusally the 150w are the brightest regardless of the brand you can get $1.99 el- cheapos or $19.99 expensive ones if there both 150w they will be close to the same, the more expensive one will probbley be a little brighter because of light designe eg. shape, gas in bulb colour of glass they also probbley have a warenty but there equivlent
also the PIAA bulbs (i dont know about outhers) have a 1 year warrenty if your bulb(s) burn out within the 1st year you just bring it in and thell give you a new one

i had changed to a blueish light in my corvette, and although the bulbs were more watts, i foud it much harder to see with the blue light than with the stock yellowish/white light. my friend has red tinted lights in his camaro, and same thing, harder to see than with the stockers.

thats because of the bulb deigne to colour them they tint the glass thus making it darker. try shining a flashlight through a tinted windo then with the same flashlight shine it through a clear windo and see the differnce. coloured bulbs are made to look cool not see better
