I found someone trying to sell a used hypertech 5006 for an 01 like mine. He said he de-programmed his truck before he got rid of it so it should be good to go. I called hypertech and asked it the programmer would work on my truck. They said that on the Dodges the programmer tends to "marry" itself to the first vehicle it is used on so there is a good chance it would not work on my truck. Are they just feeding me a line of BS so they can sell more programmers? Anyone bought/tried a used programmer?

 

100% BS. It will work as long as the person you are buying it from has returned their truck to stock.

 

it should work as long as the vin has been unlocked is this person local to you? do you know him? just incace there is any problems

 

I think what they mean is once it's used, you cant re-use it on another vehicle until it gets put back to stock. you should have no problems as long as it's been put back to stock.

 

I bought my used hypertech for my 98 360 auto from ebay and it works great. Bought it for 180. A steal considering you buy them for almost twice as much brand new. You just have to make sure that the hypertech got reloaded back with the program, otherwise you just paid for a black box with a fancy cord on it.

 

It was on ebay that I saw it for sale so I don't know the person. I asked the guy at hypertech specifically about the truck being returned to stock and he still said it may not work. The ebay seller would not guarantee it would work on my truck so it would be a gamble for me.

just recently purched a 1999 2500 w/ a 5.9, 3 speed auto with o/d. I was just wondering if anyone has used a programer and what kinda results you got?
