Anyone ever lowered a 2500 4x4?
I'm not talking about slamming it, but jeez, this is one TALL truck. I'm 5'10" and it's a real climb to get in and my 5'2" wife has to put her knee on the sill then hoist herself in using the grab handles. And it's a real PITA to load heavy things in the bed at about 4 feet off the ground. If I could lose about 4 inches in height and still maintain hauling and 4x4 capacity, that would be great. I noticed that the rear springs have a block between the main and helper springs--what if I removed that and did some shorter coil springs up front?
Or is it, as my friend told me, so tall because that's the only way Dodge could keep the steering geometry correct with the solid front axle? But I must have 15" of fenderwell showing above the tires!
Thanks in advance.

You could throw some 1500 coils and springs in it a guess, or take of the rear blocks of it has them. 4x4 are very hard to lower, but that would get you a few inches.
If you swap out the springs, you severely cut into the hauling/towing capacity...especially if it's an 8800# GVWR truck. The only thing you could maybe do is get a set from a 2wd 3/4 ton. But then you'd probably have to get different shocks as well, and that may only gain you an inch or two.
The best thing to do is get a set of side-steps for it. I put a set on mine, even though I've never had a problem getting into the truck though (I'm 6'1") & mine even sits higher than most 3/4 tons because of the suspension package they used on the V10s and my larger tires. The steps do help my gf though, who is 5'3". They also help curb the wear on the seat. That's the only reason I use the driver side one. Instead of dragging my **** across the corner of the seat, I actually sit down ON the seat now.
These are the steps I bought for my truck: http://www.maapautomotive.com/Default.aspx?tabid=153 I picked them, because they had the largest surface area (for stepping) that I could find...that would actually fit on my truck. I also liked the large rubber pad.
This is the only picture I have of them on my truck. I put them on right before I put it away for the winter. They are adjustabe. I have them adjusted as high as possible and as close to the truck as possible.

My truck had the color matched Mopar steps put on by the dealer when new. They are very strong, have a wide rubber pad and protect the paint. New in the box OEM steps are on ebay all the time and for way less than the stealers $800 price.
If you are interested in swaping suspensions and are anywhere near Erie, Pa I'd gladly swap you my 1500 stk suspention for your 2500 stock suspension could put both rigs side by side and swap it out!!!!
