Default Tie rod?

94 Dodge ram 1500 4x4. 5.9 liter engine. OK I got my uni joint in the front axle. Now I can see the pass side tie rod end is loose as a goose. Anyone got any BTDT advice, It looks like it is a long drag linh with a tie rod in the end. The tie rod does not appear to come off the drag liink, loks to be one piece about 2' long & connected to the steerring link. Any advise would be great. Also what should I expect to pay for a replacement link with end?
Do I need any special tools.
Thanks
Bob

We used a pickle fork for losin' it and to screw and unscrew just a wrench and clamp. But we changed it on a 96 sebring.

Default RE: Tie rod?

The ball joints are not servicable on the tie rod. There is 2 ways to fix it. Usea luke link to rebuild the ball joint or replace the entire tie rod with a replacement part from a parts store. I replaced 3 out of 4 tie rods in a couple hours, had some rust on an adjusting sleeve that kept it form being seperated from the tie rod, so I bought a new one of those as well. the most I think the tie rod cost was around $70 and the cheapest one was like $40-ish. I use a luke link on my inner tie rod that connect to the pitman arm that took about 2 hours

Hope that helps
