Default WHAT CAN YOU DO TO A MOPAR PERF. PCM

I was wonderin if there is any way to get more out of a Mopar performance pcm. I have one but I want to get rid of my stock rev limiter and want to tune it up a bit.

No...they're pretty much maxed from the factory. If you want to do tuning, you'll have to get a Hypertech or Superchips programmer.

burning hit it on the nail... although it would kick some major butt if a company developed software and a plug in device that you could program your own PCM.. say you upgrade to a bigger motor or do some CRAZY mods... a boy can dream cant he?

im pleased w/ my power programer..versitile and works great!

The mopar PCM moves up the rev limiter from stock. I think it moved it up to like 5250 rpm if I remember correctly. You dont want to rev more then that unless you have replaced the valvtrane anyways. Why are you running 19# injectors? The stockers are equivelant to 21#s.

I agree to disagree with most of what is stated above lol

96, the only bolt on available is the MP PCM.
Hypertech(97 & later) and Superchips (98 & later) have nothing avalable for a 96.

The mopar performance computer moves the redline to 6000rpms but requires engine mods to run that high.
MP PCM also removes the mph limiter or increases it above 140mph, not sure on which (yet)
5200rpms (@ shifts) the max you can rev safely with a stock motor
5500rpms (@ shifts) with upgraded valve springs/retainers and roller rockers
6000rpms (@ shifts) with hardened rods.guides & a balanced bottom end . Personally I would keep it to 5800rpms max to be safe

You can get a stock or performance computer tuned by Mike Leach or Dave @ B&G Chrysler. They can remove/increase mph limiter & rev limiter, give more aggressive timing than the mp pcm will give you(adv timing additional 4degrees approx) and will do a reflash for 250 if you add changes later.

Predator has a piggy back type chip they will custome tune for your truck but Im skeptical on how good their results are.

Couple other much more expensive options available as well

FAST standalone or the PRS8 standalone and a few other true tuners are available. Buddies 408 with a B&G flash pulled 359rwhp, tuned with the FAST standalone, 401rwhp. Though I never got it to work right the SMT6 is a true tuner (piggy back/not standalone) Similar to the FAST & PRS8, being able to adjust timing +/- 10 degrees in 1 degree increments per 128 sites is true tuning. Fuel can be adjusted in the same way per 128sites also. There are a minimum of 7million tune possibilities though most would not run or could cause engine damage. While testing my smt6 to see if it was working correct, I removed 14 increments of fuel from 4 sites around idle to stall the engine.

Superchips and Hypertech are programmers not tuners. They have 2 or 3 pre programmed tunes in them. You can not tune with them in the true sense.
